About us

Established in 1995, shameless hussy productions is a company of rebellious, self producing, theatre artists co-founded by ensemble members Renée Iaci, Deb Pickman and costume designer Lana Krause along with creative associates Ion Brand Design and Shift Consulting. The company was later joined by photography firm Pink Monkey Studios, musician Stephen Bulat and ensemble member, Daune Campbell.

Our mission is:

"telling provocative stories about women, to inspire the hand that rocks the cradle to rock the world."

Current Managing Producer Renée Iaci also performs double duty as Director and Tour Coordinator.

Our plays have all been produced on the unceded Indigenous territory of Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Kwikwetlem Nations. We tour across Canada and into the US, performing on many traditional indigenous territories.

      In Memoriam:

      Alex Green - "The Legend" - 1942-2010

Artistic Associate - Gun and Whip Coach

Alex Green had 45 years of whip work experience; a skill he’d perfected since childhood. He also had 25 years of western gun experience. As a stunt man and technical advisor Alex had over 100 feature films, 200 television projects and 2,000 live spectaculars to his credit.

Alex donated his time generously to coaching the hussies in the 90's, through the whip work and gun tricks he choreographed for our first original play Sonofabitch Stew: The drunken life of Calamity Jane. His confidence in us over the years when we'd drop into his Gastown Studio was infectious and we've been forever emboldened because of it.

Alex was a stunt double for a "who's who" of famous actors including Charles Bronson and was the principal stunt double for Sir Anthony Hopkins from the time they met on the film “The Edge” in Alberta in 1997. He was gun coach and technical advisor on the film Romeo and Juliet and put his whip, gun and stunt expertise all to work on The Mask of Zorro. Alex put the snap in Catwoman Halley Berrie's whip.

A true hussy, Alex was quoted in July 2004's issue of MS Magazine for their feature on the history of women and bullwhips.

After Alex passed away on July 20, 2010 of cancer, Stunts Canada (of which he was a founder) held a 40th anniversary party in his honour that same year, and raised over $10,000 to donate to the Canucks Place Children’s Hospice.

"The Legend" lives on in his films, his pictures, his memories, and the legacy that he has left in the form of Stunts Canada and its members." - Stunts Canada
